About Us

What is Kinship Care?

Kinship care describes when relatives or family friends, who are not a child's birth parents, become the child's primary caregiver, such as grandparents, aunts/uncles, siblings, family friends and others who are already connected with the child.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower kinship caregivers in their roles by providing resources, education, and peer connections to support their well-being and help their families thrive.

History

KCC started at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, since June 2020. It is the first online statewide support group for kinship caregivers in  Ohio. We provide opportunities for both learning and peer connections through open discussion meetings and informational presentations with community experts on topics relevant to kinship care.

Our logo

The crocus flower is the first to bloom in the winter, representing the resiliency of kinship families to grow and find beauty in challenging times. The rising sun is a sign of hope- together we continue to rise and enrich ourselves and our families. The bud represents community together and providing care for the next generation.
