KCC Series: Children with Special Health Care Needs
Kinship Caregivers Connect presents a series with information and strategies on caring for children with special health care needs, including understanding neurodiversity, Autism, ADHD, and sensory differences. Presenters have a background in occupational therapy, with content created specifically for kinship families.

Sydney Pinder, OTD, who has a doctorate degree in occupational therapy, presents information on understanding the sensory system and it's link to behavior , as well as recognizing sensory differences for the child or adolescent in your care. She includes many different sensory strategies you can try as a caregiver. It's important to know when trying out strategies that every child is different, and you know your child best.
Linking Trauma and the Sensory System (Pt 2)
Angela Tobin and Sydney Pinder, who have a doctorate degree in occupational therapy, presents information on understanding trauma and attachment, and their link to the sensory system. It builds on linking different sensory profiles to different ways people who have experienced trauma may process the environment around them. It presents some regulation strategies, building on sensory strategies presented in part 1.
